The Long-Term Conditions pathway, part of the Children’s Care Group within RDaSH, are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Worker to join our Children’s Community Continence Service. The service has a clear focus to support children and young people in the community to achieve their continence potential. This is a permanent job position 20 hours per week.
You will be part of an integrated team working alongside Children’s Specialisms (Children’s Community Nursing, Epilepsy, Special School Nursing, and TB). The service provides nursing intervention, support and advice relative to continence needs for to children, young people and families across the Doncaster Borough.
Our ideal candidate will be an individual with experience in child health or the community setting who has a passion for supporting and improving the lives of children, young people, and families with additional needs.
The successful candidate will join a highly experienced team within the Children’s Care Group and will be an effective team member who is committed to providing high quality care.
You will be fully supported in your role and have the opportunity to access continuous professional development and relevant training opportunities.
The current hours of operation are Mon- Fri between the hours of 9am - 5pm.
The Post holder will support and work under the guidance of the Specialist Continence Nurse to deliver personalised plans of care that support children and young people to achieve continence wherever possible. Part of this role would be to deliver care and support that has been identified through holistic continence assessments of children and young people. Continence needs such as Nocturnal Enuresis, Day Time Wetting and Constipation and Soiling will be monitored and reviewed regularly and the provision of equipment and products provided as needed.
The post holder will provide care to patients in numerous community settings such as schools and within the family home.
The post holder will need excellent communication skills in order to build close relationships with children, young people and families offering them encouragement and support as they follow their pathway of care for continence needs. You will also be expected to be confident in delivering continence/toilet training and guidance to individuals and small groups such as school/nursery staff
