27.5 Hours per week Term Time Only plus 5 training days
To support and assist pupils in the school. You will work as part of a dedicated and experienced class team to enable the children to have fair and equal access to the curriculum and to support excellent progress in learning. You will be supported by a dedicated team of kind colleagues. You will be included in staff training days and may have the option to agree additional hours for an after school club position if desired.
Core responsibilities and duties will include:
- Planning and delivering learning activities to individuals and groups of pupils within the supervision of the class teacher, adjusting activities according to pupil needs, evaluating and adjusting lessons as appropriate.
- Monitoring and evaluating pupil responses to learning activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies against pre-determined learning objectives in order to support their learning.
- Recording progress and achievement in lessons/activities systematically and providing evidence of range and level of progress and attainment in order to support the teachers in providing high quality teaching and learning.
- Be aware of and support difference and ensure the pupil has equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
- Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
- Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals, in liaison with the teacher, to support achievement and progress.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience required to fulfil the role include, but are not limited to:
- Experience of successful working with children with additional learning needs, including SEMH and SLCN.
- Experience of focussed interventions to support pupils with English and/or Mathematics difficulties.
- Knowledge of a range of learning strategies to assist and support pupils.
- A clear understanding of the use and implementation of IT to support pupils with their learning.
- To be able to communicate appropriately and professionally with children, parents/carers and professionals.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to work independently in order to manage own tasks.
