Job Title: Medical Equipment Library (MEL) Technician

Location: Southport & Formby District General Hospital, Town Lane, Kew, Southport, PR8 6PN.
Pay Rates: £11.45 per hour + Escalated rates over the weekend.
Shift Patterns: Monday- Fridays, 8am – 4pm.

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Medical Equipment Library (MEL) Technician to join our team at [Trust/Hospital Name]. In this role, you will help ensure that medical equipment is clean, safe, and ready for use across the Trust, supporting our clinical teams to deliver excellent care.
Key Responsibilities
· Deliver, collect, clean, and check medical equipment for wards and departments.
· Organise and clean the bed store, ensuring beds and trolleys are properly stored.
· Perform checks on equipment to ensure it’s in good working order, including cleaning and battery replacement.
· Respond to telephone/bleep requests and support wards with urgent equipment needs.
· Visit clinical areas to collect equipment that is no longer in use and promote good equipment practices.
· Decontaminate equipment following infection control policies and wear appropriate protective gear.
· Work with the EBME team to arrange repairs and check equipment calibration.
· Keep accurate records of equipment loans and returns.
· Support the team during busy periods, including working some bank holidays and weekends.
