Overview
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust are looking for two Pipe Fitters Assistants to join our friendly team at Queens Medical Centre. You will provide a high standard of semi-skilled planned and reactive electrical and mechanical engineering maintenance throughout the hospital site in support of the Maintenance Craftpersons and Team Leaders.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
You will be part of the Facilities and Estates team supporting members of the engineering team, in ensuring the day-to-day efficient and safe working of all engineering plant on site. These duties will include (but are not limited to):
· Assisting the electrical and mechanical engineering trades staff in general maintenance duties.
· Undertake unsupervised routine maintenance work and minor repairs including plumbing repairs and lighting in patient and staff areas.
· Undertake electrical and mechanical safety checks and repairs to domestic equipment without supervision and enter test data on a computer based database.
· Undertake some welding/fabrication work within level of competence.
· Perform routine work as required, including general cleaning of plant rooms and workshops.
· Undertake any duties as may reasonably be required (including cover).
Personal Specifications
· You will need to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience and working knowledge of engineering equipment and tools gained through hands on experience of working with and supporting qualified engineering trades.
· Must have a working knowledge of a range of engineering maintenance procedures for
different trades gained through practical experience.
· Must be confident working unsupervised and be comfortable working in confined spaces at times. You will also be expected to carry out duties independently and within small teams unsupervised.
· Must have experience in fault finding as you will be required to make judgements involving facts or situations, some of which require analysis, problem solving and fault-finding.
