NHS Professionals are seeking a dedicated and proactive Medical Workforce Lead. You will be responsible for managing the medical staffing function which delivers a first-class customer-focused service. They are responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all operational procedures for medical staffing, including recruitment, payroll responsibilities, provision of advice and ensuring European Working Time Directive (EWTD) and New Deal compliance of rotas.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the medical staffing function undertakes recruitment administration (including offer letters, administration of pre-employment checks, work permits) efficiently and accurately and ensuring that the job applicant’s first experience of the organisation is positive.
- Ensure that all medical recruitment and other administration is carried out in a timely manner, meeting internal quality standards and KPIs, relevant national frameworks and legal requirements.
- To provide expert advice on recruitment and selection procedures, junior doctor terms and conditions, consultant contracts and all other medical staffing issues to all senior managers across the Trust.
- To identify concerns and highlight these to the recruiting manager, for example, if an Occupational Health screening is unsatisfactory and ensure that all staff in the team proactively flag potential risks to the organisation. o provide detailed advice, for example, where pre-employment checks are unsatisfactory, or the withdrawal of an offer is possible for other reasons.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and updates.
- Liaising and working closely with the wider People & Organisational Development teams and referring on, as appropriate, cases where the applicant is already employed, for example if unsatisfactory references/DBS clearance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workplace.
Skills
- Specialist knowledge in relevant areas of human resources required through masters degree or HR qualification.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
- Proven NHS/public sector experience and knowledge.
- Experience of using and developing HR and workforce information systems to enhance e-functionality.
- In depth knowledge of TRAC, ESR, Health Roster and other workforce systems
- Specialist HR knowledge, including medical terms and conditions, current Employment and Data Protection legislation.
The role will involve but not limited to you performing the above.
