We are looking for a Meal Delivery Driver to transport and deliver freshly cooked meals from our 5–Star kitchen at The Mackenney Centre, Gillingham to older people living in their own homes.
Job Type: Part-time, permanent; 12.5 hours Monday-Friday including bank holidays, 11:30 - 14:00
Hourly rate: £11.44 per hour
Location: Community of Gillingham
Key Responsibilities:
- To adhere to the scheduled delivery list.
- Maintain the cleanliness of all equipment, including used utensils and crockery.
- Ensure all tasks are carried out to specified hygienic requirements.
- Ensure correct portioning, when serving meals in customer’s own home.
- To serve meals on customer’s own tableware and with correct cutlery.
- To ensure that a drink is also provided when serving meals.
- To provide a ‘Well Person Check’ at each delivery and pass on any relevant information, such as ‘no reply’ or any other welfare concerns about customers to senior staff.
- Understand and respond to both Food Hygiene and Health & Safety requirements at all times.
- Ensure accurate mileage records are completed at the end of the delivery and passed on to appropriate staff.
- Ensure that meal temperatures are accurately recorded and passed on to the appropriate person.
- Use the appropriate equipment as provided and use in accordance with instructions.
- Show respect and consideration to all customers and their families.
The Ideal Candidate will:
- hold a full driving licence and have the use of your own adequately insured vehicle (‘Business Use’ insurance).
- To either already hold an up-to-date Food Hygiene Certificate or be willing to attend the relevant training course.
- Good communication skills.
- To be able to work as part of a team, but also able to use own initiative.
- Must be prepared to undertake a DBS check.
- A flexible approach, with a willingness to provide cover for colleagues at short notice.
