We are seeking a Security Officer on a six month fixed term contract to join our team, working across both of our North Tees & Hartlepool NHS hospital sites. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team, to help provide a high quality and efficient, customer orientated security service working within our hospitals. Full training will be provided, so previous security experience is not essential, and this will be a great role for someone looking for the next step in their career.

The role will involve both working under the supervision of the Security Manager, but also working independently during shifts, and exercising initiative.
Typical Day of Working in the role of a Security Officer:
Attend immediately to all calls for assistance involving:
Those in fear of physical harm; Scenes of actual or suspected crime where personal injury is involved; Crime in progress; Fire alarms.
Monitor CCTV systems and report, log and where necessary investigate, any untoward incidents in accordance with agreed protocols, policies and procedures.
All crimes reported to, or discovered by the Security service will be investigated by them and/or the police service, depending on the circumstances.
Respond to intruder alarms, inspect for signs of break in, and liaise with the Police.
Carry out both internal and external patrols of the site
What are we looking for?
Full training will be provided for the specific role, but we are looking for previous experience of working with the general public.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work autonomously, using own initiative, as well as part of a team
Able to work in a fast-paced environment, where critical thinking skills are essential to take action in a timely manner where required

Process staff ID badges and access cards, and update details on the computer system following receipt of completed authorisation documentation and appropriate checks.
Carry out physical security patrols both internal and external, to include car
parking areas providing protection for buildings and properties.
To lock/unlock buildings and departments on a daily basis.
Monitor the issuing and receiving of departmental keys – log details as
applicable.
Maintain a log of incidents; make written reports of incidents and crime using a note book system, and transfer entries onto Security service logging system, Immediately reporting a crime or serious incident.
Provide assistance and direction to members of the public.
Receive reports of lost property and accept found personal property for safe keeping and maintain register of lost and found property. Take active steps to trace owners and restore their property.
To provide written reports, witness statements to the police. May be required to attend magistrates or Crown court to give evidence as applicable.
