Overview
Boyatt Wood Surgery is seeking a skilled Senior Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join our healthcare team in a pivotal administrative role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in office and administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of the reception/office area.
We are looking for a reliable and committed individual who is enthusiastic, empathetic and comfortable with responsibility in a busy and demanding working environment. The applicant will need to be able to work accurately and at pace whilst maintaining excellent customer service skills showing empathy to patients and dealing with all queries in a timely manner.
We require the successful candidate to be able to work Monday to Friday ; we work a shift pattern (morning shift would be 8.00 -1.30pm and the afternoon shift would be 1.30-6.30pm ).Flexibility is key as we are a small team so additional hours would be required of the successful applicant to cover holiday or sickness. Contracted hours are 25-27.5 hours per week which work out to approx 5 shifts per week).
It is essential to have a good knowledge of MS Office and ideally excellent keyboard skills (touch typing). The ability to assimilate information quickly, be practical, have good computer skills and be able to work using your own initiative would be regarded as highly desirable skills. Previous NHS experience preferred
Ultimately, we are looking for a candidate with a ‘can do’ attitude and full training will be provided to the successful candidate , the successful candidate must have the ability to work well under pressure and also be a great team player.

Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently
- Manage patient records and update information accurately
- Handle telephone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel
- Assist with administrative duties as required
Experience
- Previous experience in a GP surgery or the NHS is desired.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous
- Proficiency in using office software and electronic health records systems is desired
