Receptionist
Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small friendly team as a GP Receptionist in the market town of Sevenoaks with 4 GP's, 2 Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistant, experienced reception and administrative team. We offer membership of the NHS Pension scheme and excellent team spirit and a pleasant working environment. There is free on-site parking and we are a 10 minute walk from Sevenoaks train station.
We are seeking a part time GP Receptionist with the flexibility to cover annual leave and sickness to be essential.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication and IT skills and an understanding of high quality customer service, you will need to work on a busy reception desk dealing with patients over the telephone and face to face whilst keeping calm and professional.
Previous NHS reception experience is desirable but we are happy to provide training to the right candidate who wants to join our small friendly team.
We are looking for someone who:
Has strong communications skills both verbal and written, including courteous and confident telephone manner.
Has good attention to detail and accuracy.
Provide excellent customer service.
Computer literate with the ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Is empathetic and patient, willing to take time to understand patients who may be in pain or distress
Is motivated, proactive and willing to work as a part of the team.
Understands the importance of confidentiality.
Polite and sympathetic approach to patients, visitors and staff members.
Calm and helpful
The duties are but not limited to:
- Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits, answering the telephone and conveying messages and ensuring
Callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Filing and retrieving paperwork
- Accepting requests for prescriptions including checking emails and prescription box
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
- Registration of new and temporary patients
- Ensure all visitors sign in the Visitors Book
- Arranging transport for patients
- Taking payments for vaccines etc. and giving receipts
