An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our CQC rated ‘Outstanding’ Trust, within our Urgent Care Service.
Based at West Berkshire Community Hospital, you will be working in a passionate integrated team operating in partnership with the Practitioners in both the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU), Out of Hours GPs and other multidisciplinary teams within Berkshire Healthcare.
As a healthcare assistant, you will be working within both the MIU and Out of Hours Service booking patients in and carrying out basic triaging of patients, carrying out observations and treating wounds with the support of the practitioners .
Would suit applicants wanting to work part time hours with the opportunity of picking up extra hours. The applicant will be required to work 2 weekends a month in addition to some weekday working.
Welcome patients to the Minor Injuries Unit in a courteous and helpful manner trying to allay fears and anxieties that the y may have .
Book patients onto the c linical database collecting all relevant information in timely and accurate manner
Be able to demonstrate independent working while working in a constantly changing environment and without direct supervision but being able to ask the team for advice when required .
Be able to act on own initiative manage own daily workload comprising of both routine and unpredictable/unplanned activities
Triaging new referrals
Undertaking appropriate clinical observations/vital signs
Performing simple wound care/burns/eye washouts/venepuncture/ECGs/urinalysis/plastering
Carry out administrative duties for the Urgent Care Service as directed

The “must haves” for you to be considered for this role:
Previous experience of working in a healthcare environment
NVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalent
Can work under pressure and remain calm
Excellent c ommunication skills
