GCSE English Tutor
Location: Hybrid, based in West Midlands
Salary: £27,500 - £35,000 per annum, pro rata (depending on experience & qualifications)
Hours: Part Time/Permanent, 3 days per week

As a GCSE Tutor you will be responsible for ensuring that learners develop and achieve a GCSE level Maths. We are looking for a GCSE English Tutor that can motivate and inspire our students to achieve their full potential whilst on our programme. You must have previous teaching experience and be able to work with students that are challenging at times and some will have moderate learning difficulties.
Please note that this position is to cover the West Midlands Area and a driving licence and full use of a car is essential.
As part of company policy at Nova Training, every candidate must be screened in Math’s, English and ICT skills. Applicants will be asked to undertake assessments during the interview screening process and will be required to demonstrate a level of competence, to qualify for employment within Nova Training.
Key Responsibilities:
- To regularly monitor and report the progress of learners through internal monitoring systems.
- To plan and carry out regular formative and mock assessments in-line with preparation windows for Summer and Autumn exam series.
- To liaise with centre staff regarding learner progress during your sessions.
- Provide innovative and blended teaching and learning approaches to maximise reach and engagement of all learners. This will include effective use of the Google Classroom platform as well as classroom delivery where appropriate.
- Plan individual learning to meet learner needs and ensure lesson plans are prepared prior to learners attending and are linked to overarching curriculum plans.
- Empathise with, engage and motivate learners across all programmes.
Requirements:
- Experience of delivering training or supporting young people 14-19 who have LDDs including attitude and behaviour problems.
- GCSE teaching experience in English.
- Full Teaching Qualification I.e. Cert Ed, C&G 7407, CTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE.
- A minimum of 2 years Teaching experience in 14-19 provision
- Up To date knowledge of the Curriculum
- A full Driving Licence is essential.
