About the Role
Dr Laliwala and partners are looking to welcome a Healthcare Assistant to join the team on a permanent basis.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Supporting the practice team by carrying out the following:
o Baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately
o Routine investigations such as ECGs and venepuncture
o Wound care and dressings
o Ensuring specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
o Flu vaccinations
o Ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse
o Act as a chaperone as required
o Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
o Undertake new patient health checks and BMI monitoring
o Any other clinical tasks as required
- Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes and chronic disease clinics
- Ensure daily, weekly and monthly checks are carried out such as stocking rooms, checking fridge contents and temperatures, removing clinical waste etc. and logging this information as specified
- Provide support during minor operations
- Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
- Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead
- Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
- Support and participate in shared learning within the organisation
About you
As a key member of our team of Doctors, Physician Associates, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, First Contact Physiotherapists, Social prescribers, Nurses you will have:
- A level 3 healthcare qualification or equivalent, or be working towards this
- Previously dealt with the public and worked in a healthcare setting
- Ideally you will have a relevant qualification in Phlebotomy/Venepuncture
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and you will be able to understand the needs of the patient and be sensitive and empathic
- Good interpersonal skills, committed to supporting the team and the ability to work under pressure
- Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
- Strong IT skills
- A commitment to ongoing professional development
