At the Senedd, our goal is to place citizens at the heart of everything we do. To achieve this, we need to increase public awareness of our work – showing and explaining how what happens at the Senedd can lead to improvements in the services we use every day.

The Digital team, part of the Communications Service, creates stories to engage and inform the people of Wales about the Senedd’s role. We’re enhancing our social media and digital presence to reach more people, especially those disengaged from politics. We aim to explain our work clearly, and show its importance.

As Digital Communications Manager, you'll plan and create engaging content, helping to place the Senedd at the centre of Wales’s national conversation. Your role is crucial in increasing public engagement and raising the Senedd’s profile on digital channels. You’ll also support staff and Members of the Senedd, using your digital expertise.

Reporting to the Senior Digital and Communications Manager and Head of Digital and Design, you'll be a versatile communicator with experience in delivering high-quality content, particularly for social media.

You’ll manage social media channels and workflows to meet strategic goals. Your role will involve creating integrated communications and marketing campaigns, with a focus on video content and strategy.

Job description

Key tasks:

Create inspiring content for different audiences to share what the Senedd does, to get more people in Wales involved in democracy
Plan and implement multi-media digital content as stand-alone projects or part of a campaign, working as part of an integrated team
Have a flair for photography and video creation, helping to guide and influence the Senedd’s strategy for video
Stay on top of digital trends, confidently suggesting content ideas that fit the Senedd’s brand and reputation
Evaluate the impact of digital content, using the information to further improve content and strategy
Help manage the Senedd’s core social media channels, making sure our brand is championed online
Work collaboratively in a team environment, and manage relationships with internal stakeholders
Provide support and training to internal social media channel owners, working with them to help improve their content
Contribute to the development of the Senedd’s digital presence by maintaining awareness of the digital landscape
Deputising for the Senior Digital Communications Manager when needed

Person specification

Job Specific criteria:

Proven experience in digital communications, and working as part of an integrated team (with other communications and engagement disciplines).
Creative thinker with a passion for digital storytelling, with demonstratable experience of working on integrated PR or communications campaigns.
Strong skills in filming and video editing.
Analytical skills to assess digital performance, making data-drive decisions.
